According to Daily Observer, Prime Minister (PM) Tarique Rahman has instructed the relevant authorities to strengthen advance preparedness, identify vulnerable and old buildings, and enhance emergency rescue capabilities to address potential earthquake risks.

The instructions were given at a meeting on earthquake preparedness and necessary measures held at the PM’s office in the Secretariat on Monday, where he emphasised adopting an integrated action plan to ensure public safety in earthquake‑prone areas across the country, mainly in the capital.

He also directed the authorities to ensure proper compliance with the National Building Code and to strengthen the capacity.
